Award-winning Executive Chef Ype Von Hengst is also one of the co-founders of Silver Diner, a 15-location restaurant group located in the Washington, D.C. region.  Their newest restaurant, Silver, is a New American Brasserie located in the heart of Bethesda, Maryland. Von Hengst has received many accolades for his highly creative, healthier menu items that use fresh and local products.  Born in the Netherlands, Ype received his training in some of Europe’s finest restaurants before coming to the U.S. where he served as executive chef for Restaurant Associates at Rockefeller Center in New York City and oversaw a dozen premier restaurants in New York and Washington, D.C.  His commitment to eating healthy is practiced in his own life and he is an avid workout enthusiast and marathon runner.
