Chef and educator Susan Callahan has taught aspiring chefs in various settings for over 30 years. She has taught both recreational and professional cooking classes around the metro region. As chef she redesigned a workforce training  program for homeless men and women for DC Central Kitchen. In 2006 Susan was hired by the University of MD Eastern Shore as a full time faculty in their Hotel Restaurant Management Program. In the spring semester on 2007 Callahan became faculty sponsor of the Campus Kitchen of UMES. CKUMES is a service-learning project managed by juniors and seniors in the Hotel Restaurant Mgt. program. Susan was awarded the Camille Kendall Excellence in Teaching Award in 2009, and the Universities at Shady Grove Purcell Sustainability Award in 2013. Susan is an award winning artist who has exhibited work internationally and has organized exhibits nationally.
